Dr. Frederick Simasiku is an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) specialist, with over 20 years of progressive experience in research capacity development, international programme execution and transformative education systems. His expertise focuses on innovation in higher education and institutional integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a strong emphasis on Global South contexts. He earned a PhD in Environmental Education and Sustainability from Stellenbosch University, complemented by advanced professional training in project development, innovation management, and education systems reform. Dr. Simasiku serves as the Coordinator of Postgraduate Research Training at the University of Namibia’s Centre for Research Services, where he leads the design and implementation of research capacity-building and skills development.
His international experience includes coordinating SDG-focused programmes that translate research into actionable solutions, with a strong emphasis on SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Dr. Simasiku has presented widely on research system transformation, collaborative knowledge networks, and strategies for leveraging research and innovation to drive inclusive development in the Global South.
